Rho Ophiuchi and Antares

a return to this beautiful region as seen in 'Antares/Rho Ophiuchi' and 'The Milky Way' in the Film Gallery.  The triple star Rho of the constellation Ophiuchus the snake handler is at upper left with its blue, reflection nebulosity. Antares or 'Enemy of Mars' is the bright-yellow alpha star of Sagittarius the scorpion. Its energy illuminates the beautiful waves of surrounding dust and gas. The globular cluster NGC 6144 is well above and slightly to Antares' left.
