NGC 4565 'The Flying Saucer' in Coma Berenices
Was discovered by the great William Herschel in 1785. A classic, edge-on spiral I think it's one of the most spectacular of galaxies. It has eluded me for many years, but now I have her, and offer it for your enjoyment. 4565 lies a staggering 50 million light years from this island Earth. Though one of the favorite spring galaxies, there is precious little written about the Flying Saucer, or Needle as some call it. You should be able to count an additional five galaxies in the field.
