Displayed here from time to time, are images acquired with a Schuler 10 nm Hydrogen alpha (Ha) filter. This allows only the 656.3 nm wavelength to pass through- the emission line of red nebulae. As the filter is so narrowly notched, it allows any clear sky to be utilized, even one lit by the full moon. I'm a color freak, and strive to acquire RGB at New Moon to complete these works. By the same token, I consider these Ha images to be stunning, and capable of standing on their own.
The result from the Ha filter is a highly detailed, grayscale image which can be blended into the normal Luminance as well as the Red channel of RGB to enhance the finished image. Submitted for your enjoyment are works in progress. As I use a one-shot-color camera, only one in four pixels actually 'sees' through the filter. Though inferior to a monochrome camera in this regard, the results are quite impressive.
