Omega Centauri globular cluster in Centaurus
This deep southern object had to wait for a trip to Chiefland Astronomy Village in Florida. This is a composite of two shots which were taken through the murky February horizon. It came out quite well given the conditions. A Globular or 'Glob' is a sort of mini-galaxy comprised of millions of stars, which lies at the outer edge of our own galaxy. The stars are mostly metal-defficient and near the end of their lives.
