Billions and Billions.com/Comet Machholz
Comet Machholz in the constellation Camelopardalis
Officially designated c/2004 Q2, it was the 10th discovery by Colfax, CA amateur astronomer Don Machholz. Two sub-nuclei can be seen at the core of the aqua 'coma'. The wispy, bluish tail off right is the ion tail, while the yellowish cone at top left is the dust tail. This image was chosen for Don's site. For more, see here or Return to the Gallery
