The Siamese Twins Galaxies

Picture
NGC 4567 and 4568 in Virgo

appear in the upper-left corner of the field, and are a pair of unbarred spiral galaxies, which are colliding and merging with each other.
Located 60,000,000 light-years away, they were discovered by William Herschel in 1784.

In the lower-right corner is M58, an intermediate barred spiral galaxy with a weak inner ring structure.
Also designated NGC 4579, M58 was discovered by Charles Messier in 1779 and is one of four barred spiral galaxies that appear in his catalogue.
NGC 4564 is the smaller elliptical galaxy at 9 o'clock, and all four 'island universes' are part of the Virgo Cluster of galaxies.
