The Solar System
Our neighborhood consists of the Yellow Dwarf star Sol, its 8 planets and several classes of planetoids including moons, asteroids and comets. Though comprising an area 100,000 times the distance between the Earth and our sun (1 AU = 93,000,000 miles), this enormous system is but a tiny portion of the Milky Way Galaxy. And, the Milky Way Galaxy is but one of hundreds of billions of galaxies throught the universe! For a marvelous demonstration of this, see Here. Though I am primarily a 'Deep Sky Imager', I am certainly interested in our Solar System and have had a few opportunities to acquire some 'so-so' photographs of its many wonders. High quality lunar, planetary, and solar images are acquired with webcams and specialized CCD/CMOS cameras capable of 'streaming' exposures. Perhaps I will acquire one in the future. Simply Click the Thumbnails to open the images and use your Browser to return to this gallery. Enjoy the photographs! Use the following link to return to the Main Gallery
When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and stars
which thou hast ordained; What is man that thou art mindful of him?
