Chamaeleon Complex
CH I, CH II, and CH III in Chamaeleon
are star-forming regions of dark, dusty clouds only 600 light-years away.
The huge complex fills its home constellation, reaching into neighboring Apus, Musca, Carina, and Octans.
The tall spire at left is called the Talon Nebula. While not fully emissive, there is enough hydrogen to add a reddish hue to the nebulosity.
