Cosmic Reef Nebula

Picture
NGC 2014 and 2020 in Dorado

are two very different looking nebulae within the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC).
Collectively called The Cosmic Reef, at lower left is the bluish, ring shaped NGC 2020. Above it, is the larger, golden NGC 2014.
Resembling an undersea coral reef, 2014 glows from a cluster of massive, young stars whose cosmic winds created its brain-like bubbles.

NGC 2020 is fueled by a single Wolf-Rayet star, estimated to be 200,000 times brighter than our sun.
This image data was acquired by friend, Mark Hanson for SWOS and is a narrowband SHO creation.
I've also processed an HRGB version, available below.
