Dreyer's Nebula

Picture
IC 447 in Monoceros

is
a reflection nebula located in the constellation Monoceros.
It includes several massive B-type stars and forms one end of the Monoceros R1 star-forming filament, with IC 446 at the opposite end.
IC 447 may have been formed by more massive members of the young open cluster, Collinder 95.
While discovered by famed astrophotographer, E.E. Barnard, it is named for
John Dreyer, complier of the NGC and IC catalogs.
This image data was acquired by friend, Mark Hanson for SWOS.
