The Hickson 88 Galaxy Cluster
NGC 6975-6976-5977-6978 in Aquarius
are a gravitationally bound, compact group of galaxies, designated Hickson 88 by Canadian astronomer, Paul Hickson.
At a distance of ~273,000.000 light years, beginning at top-left is the edge-on, SABb-type NGC 6975.
Next, is a classic spiral- NGC 6976, followed by NGC 6977 at center, which is a SAa-type barred spiral.
NGC 6988 at lower-right is, according to its Hubble Classification, a SAb-class galaxy.
Many thanks go out to my collaborator and friend, Mike Selby, who acquired and calibrated this fine data.
