NGC 3717 Galaxy
NGC 3717 in Hydra
is a nearly edge-on spiral galaxy showing a distinct dust band. Approximately 80,000,000 light years away from Earth, the galaxy features some faint star streams, hinting at possible tidal interaction with another galaxy. While this field is rife with small galaxies of every conceivable shape, pay particular attention to the beautiful, face-on spiral, IC 2913 at 6 o'clock, directly below NGC 3717. Both galaxies can be viewed a bit closer up Here. This data was acquired in 2018 by SSRO.
