NGC 488 Galaxy
NGC 488 in Pisces
is a face-on spiral galaxy of the SA(r)b type, located about 90,000,000 light-years away.
Discovered on December 13, 1784 by William Herschel, the galaxy has a large central bulge, and is considered a prototype galaxy
with multiple, tightly wound spiral arms. Star-forming activity has been traced within its arms.
Many thanks go out to my collaborator and friend, Mike Selby, who acquired and calibrated this fine data.
