NGC 6559 Nebula
NGC 6559 and IC 4685 in Sagittarius
is a star-forming region, at a distance of about 5,000 light-years from Earth.
Adjacent to the better known Lagoon Nebula (M8), this nebular complex exhibits
emission (reddish), reflection (bluish), and absorption (black) nebulosity.
NGC 6559 surrounds the bright, central blue star near the top.
IC 4685 is the gorgeous, deep red and blue flower near bottom right.
Sometimes called The Chinese Dragon, Barnard 303 is the black 'river' running through both.
An added treat is the small planetary nebula, PK006-02.1 at 3 o'clock.
