Omega Nebula in Sagittarius

 is a massive, star-forming region, about 5,000 light-years from Earth.
Discovered by Philippe Loys de Chéseaux in 1745, Charles Messier cataloged it in 1764 as M17.
The bright, young stars of open cluster NGC 6618 causes the mostly hydrogen gasses to glow pink.
The image at top is a broadband RGB version; below is a Hubble Palette presentation using SII, Ha, and OIII data. 
M17 is in collaboration with, and comprised of available data acquired by 
SWOS.
