USGC S244 Galaxy Group
NGC 5915, 5916, and 5916A in Libra
are a group of rarely imaged, interacting galaxies, discovered by John Hershel in 1836.
At 110,000,000 light-years from Earth, NGC 5916 at top-left is an SBa/P barred spiral galaxy,
5916A at lower right is an SBc/P barred spiral, and at lower-left is NGC 5915, a beautiful SBab barred spiral with a starburst core.
The morphology of all three members are significantly distorted by their tidal interaction.
The field of view is rife with 'milky' integrated flux nebula (IFN).
Many thanks go out to my collaborator and friend, Mike Selby, who acquired and calibrated this fine data.
